Nunney Acoustic Café
Nunney Acoustic Café on Sunday 3 November features two mighty artists: Pete Gage and Richard Kennedy.
Nunney Acoustic Cafe takes place monthly on the first Sunday of the month.
Live music includes performances by some of the best folk musicians the south west has to offer. On Sunday 3 November Nunney Acoustic Cafe features two artists at the top of their game: Pete Gage and Richard Kennedy.
Blues musician Pete Gage is a vocalist, harmonica player and pianist best known for fronting the Jet Harris Band and Dr. Feelgood, although he has also led his own band and issued solo albums featuring artists such as ex-Dr. Feelgood guitarist Gypie Mayo.
Mayo passed away last week.
When the legendary R&B band Dr Feelgood lost their frontman Lee Brilleaux to cancer, Pete took-up the challenge of stepping into his shoes. He toured with the band for four years throughout Europe, playing over 200 gigs a year.
Gage semi-retired to Frome, but continues performing with different bands in England, Spain and particularly Finland, where he has a large and loyal fan base. Both his piano-based blues albums Out of Hours and Tough Talk were recorded in Finland.
In December 2011, Pete, Gypie and two Dr Feelgood founder members, John ‘Sparko’ Sparkes (bass) and ‘The Big Figure’ (drums) reformed as The Realgoods and toured Japan with support from Eddie and the Hotrods.
Most recently he has been writing and recording his own material, collaborating with great artists such as Paul Hartshorn, Gypie Mayo, Innes Sibun, Jon Amor, Midge Ure and Duncan Kingston, plus some fine musicians from Finland.
Pete Gage plays blues and boogie piano in various settings. The Pete Gage Trio presents laid-back standardd blues tunes with a jazz-y tinge. The Pete Gage Band is characterised by original and powerful renditions of classic blues tunes from the early days of blues music up to the present time.

Richard KennedyRichard Kennedy’s left-handed guitar technique confounds guitarists everywhere. The New Zealand-born guitarist and singer brings his unique gritty and authentic style to Nunney Acoustic Cafe. His stunning guitar playing and song writing prowess bring down houses from New York to Berlin.
He performed & recorded for many years in New York City before coming to the UK. His slinky country-tinged style and great material makes for a memorable experience.
He has recorded and toured with many well-known artists including Marshall Crenshaw, Curtis Stygers & the Roches. Richard recently toured with Dennis Locorriere, lead singer from the famed Dr Hook band.
