Visit Nunney won in the Leisure / Tourism category at the Believe in Somerset Awards, held at Haynes International Motor Museum on Thursday 8 December.
The awards, previously known as the Pride of Somerset Awards, celebrate individuals and organisations that have gone above and beyond in making Somerset an inspiring place.
According to the judges, “Since Visit Nunney was launched in 2009 to promote tourism, business and the arts in the village of Nunney, near Frome, it has continuously punched well above it weight.”
The Believe in Somerset Awards are organised by Trinity Mirror plc, the newspaper group behind the Western Daily Press, Western Gazette, Somerset Standard, Bath Chronicle, Wells/Shepton Mallet Journal and other publications in our area.
“We have such a wealth of enthusiasm and passion in our county with so many people from all walks of life trying to improve where we live and work,” according to the organisers.
“These awards help celebrate those talented individuals, businesses and community groups who go the extra mile to promote Somerset.”
Awards were handed out in 12 categories at an awards lunch at Haynes International Motor Museum in Sparkford.
Visit Nunney was launched in 2009 to promote tourism, business and the arts in Nunney. The daily updated village website was previously in the finals for UK News/Information Website of the Year 2014 and UK Charity/Social Enterprise Website of the Year 2015, both in the Good Web Guide Awards.
Visit Nunney was also awarded Unsung Hero for Customer Service Excellence in the 2015-16 South West Tourism Excellence Awards and was a finalist in the 2015 Mendip Business Awards for Best Community Support Community.
