Final Nunney Remembers service

A large gathering of poppies and crosses for Remembrance Day

The final Nunney Remembers service commemorating local men who fought and died in the First World War takes place on Tuesday 23 October at 6pm.

Remembrance Sunday

This service in All Saints Church will be different from its predecessors, being longer and with more ceremony. The bells will be rung for about 45 minutes before the service.

There will be hymns as well as readings and prayers. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

At the heart of the service, Steve Thomas, to whom we are indebted for his research throughout the project, will read the full roll-call of all the men from Nunney and its immediate surroundings who fought in that dreadful war.

We should remember that beside the fallen of Nunney whose names appear on the permanent memorials, and who have been remembered individually, many more came home physically, mentally or emotionally damaged beyond belief.

All too often, their sacrifice is forgotten.
