Frome Half Marathon 2019 will come through Nunney on Sunday 21 July, with roads closed to all traffic through the centre and around the village.
Frome Half Marathon 2019 is one of the biggest sporting events in the local area. As well as the half marathon, participants can take part in 5k (5 kilometres) and 10k (10 kilometres) runs.
Frome Half Marathon 2019 this year has a route that goes from Frome Town Football Club past the former golf course on to Church Street, across the bridge and up Castle Hill towards Whatley.
Roads closed during the Frome Half Marathon 2018 event include:
Nunney Road / Frome Road
The Market Place
Castle Hill (including the visitor car park)
Lower Whatley Road
A full list of all road closures and timings is available on the event’s website.
The road closures will officially be in place between 10.00am and noon on this section of the course. However, the stewards may need to close the roads earlier or later and this it entirely their decision.
Unfortunately, in previous years some motorists have ignored the clearly marked road closures and instructions from stewards, leading to potentially very dangerous situations and even cancellation of future events.
Please be a good sport and cooperate with the organisers of the Frome Half Marathon 2019.
Every year scores of Nunney residents line the route through our village and volunteer to help with road closures and water stations.
It makes a huge difference to the runners – often in blazing sunshine – to get the encouragements of members of the public.
Despite the minor disruption to the village’s routine, Frome Half Marathon is a great opportunity to show off Nunney’s beauty – and a rare opportunity to enjoy its tranqility without cars.
