The George at Nunney inn has won Wadworth Brewery’s Tenanted Trade Best Retailer of the Year for the second year running.
Wadworth held their annual Best Of The Best Awards to celebrate those managers and business partners who have shone this past year.
Angie Williams collected the award for Tenanted Trade Best Retailer on behalf of owners Gordon Hedges and Derya Akyol of The George at Nunney, who won the same award last year.
Gordon Hedges said, “Wadworth have 240 pubs around the South West of England, so to be awarded the top award is absolutely wonderful. A huge thank you to all our customers who visit us and a special thank you to the 33 members of staff we have here at The George at Nunney for your great work this year.”
Wadworth has over 240 pubs spread across 600 square miles of the South West of Britain. Wadworth have been brewing beer in Devizes since 1875.
Founded by Henry A Wadworth, the business passed to his founding partner John Smith Bartholomew and is now in the 4th generation of management by the Bartholomew family.
The annual event recognises the best of the best in various categories ending in the hotly contested Best Tenant and Best Manager Awards.
Gordon Hedges, who had no prior experience of running a hospitality business, took over The George at Nunney on 16 April 2012. Since then, the country inn has had a complete makeover and is packed for lunch and dinner every day of the week. The hotel is also booked to capacity, backed by rave reviews on Tripadvisor.
