Nunney Community Association hosts a Jazz Night with fish and chips supper featuring the Terry Hill Big Band at Nunney village hall on Saturday 21 November at 7.30pm.
Previous events with the 20-piece Terry Hill Big Band proved to be very popular. This one will no doubt sell out rapidly.
The Terry Hill Big Band was formed in 1989 at the request of the then Head of Writhlington School, to provide music for a GI wartime dance night organised by the school. After the gig many members of the line-up requested that the band continue – and here we are 25 years later!
The principle of the band is to provide a playing platform for both young and old, inexperienced and experienced.
Over the years the make up of the band has been through many changes, with some of the original young members now being somewhat senior.
The band is named after the long hill which descends towards Writhlington. It has caused much amusement over the years when the band leader, Dave Daymon-Johns, quite understandably gets called Terry in thank you speeches and the like!
The Terry Hill Big Band plays Glenn Miller standards and other popular big band classics.
Tickets are £5 each and are available at the SPAR village shop.
Fish and chips supper costs £5 per person extra and you’ll need to book yours by Friday 20 November, also at the SPAR.
