The first ever Mells Art Show will be held on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 November from 10am to 5.30pm at the Mells Manor Stables.
The show will have a mix of original art, limited edition photography, crafts and original book illustrations donated by the artists in a very good cause: to pay for a heart defibrillator for Mells village – hence Art for the Heart.
Originally planned to show the work of a local artists’ group in Mells, the show has grown to include work from leading professional artists, illustrators and photographers who have also agreed to donate their work.
Over 50 pieces will be on show including gorgeous watercolours from Somerset artist Lucy Willis, vivid oils from Heather O’Brien and watercolours from well-known Mells artist Danny Markey.
Mells Art Show also features lovely handmade pots and tapestries from Jenny Waller, limited edition photographs of Mells by professional photographer Caroline True and a rare opportunity to acquire some original illustrations from Frank Muir’s much-loved What-a-Mess children’s book, by local illustrator Joseph Wright.
You can also buy really lovely work by local artists such as Simon Greaves, Nigel Savage, Jane Mann, Felicity Heavenor, Cherry Yhearm, Maggie Shreeve, Phillipa Johnson and Victoria Kennaugh.
Prices start at £20 with the majority under £100 and work by the professional artists offered at half their gallery rate. Literally something for everyone – from first-time buyers to serious collectors with an eye to a bargain.
Please come and support this very good cause and the local artists who have so generously donated their work. The entrance to the Mells Manor Stables is located between The Talbot Inn and the Manor gates.
