The Mendip Mobile Advice Service will visit Nunney and Mells on Monday 8 September 10 – noon, not on Tuesday for this month only.
Nunney residents looking for free practical advice can visit the Mendip Mobile Advice Service mini-bus in the Market Place.
The Mendip Mobile Advice Service is a two year project funded by the Advice Services Transition Fund. The new service started in Nunney on 24 March and visits the village once a month.
Mendip Citizens Advice provides free, independent and confidential advice on Debt, Housing, Employment, Welfare Benefits, Family and Personal Matters, Consumer Contracts, Legal Procedures, Education and Health.
The set-up in the mini-bus is the same as if someone came to a Citizens Advice office: total discretion and confidentiality with the same paperwork being used as in the offices.
The new services aims to deliver help to people in the villages that may not be able to get to the town CAB offices. Where possible advice will be given on the spot; if that isn’t possible you will referred to whoever is best placed to help, so either CAB in Frome, YMCA, Aster etc.
The Citizens Advice Bureau mini-bus will stop in the Market Place in Nunney between 10am and noon on the following dates this year:
Monday 8 September
Tuesday 7 October
Tuesday 4 November
Tuesday 2 December
Please tell anyone who you know who may need advice and does not have internet access about the new service. Further information is available on the Mendip Citizens Advice Bureau website.
The five agencies working in partnership with Mendip Citizens Advice Bureau are: Mendip Care and Repair, Mendip YMCA, Elim Connect Centre, Mendip Community Support and Aster Communities.
These partner agencies have committed to take an advice service out to the rural communities of Mendip who are currently digitally excluded.
The aim at the end of the project is to establish three permanent local information hubs to be run by the local community for their residents.
Volunteers are always needed either to train as Gateway assessors for Citizens Advice, or to drive the vehicle to make this project a success.
In addition to the mobile service, advice is also available at the Citizens Advice Bureau at 5 King Street in Frome (between the Market Place and Marks & Spencer). The Frome office is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10am – 3.30pm.
