Nunney & District Flower Show 2018

The show takes place on Saturday 7 September at Nunney Village Hall, with entries on view from 2pm and trophies presented at 4.15pm. Admission is £1 and kids go free.

The Nunney & District Flower Show 2019 Committee hopes that participants from both inside and outside Nunney will take part.

There are no fewer than 137 different categories this year, including many new categories. These range from vegetables and pot plants to handicraft and bakery.

Children under the age of 16 can submit entries in 4 categories for each of 5 age groups, including finger painting (3 years and under), plants, drawings and muffins.

There are many trophies available for the best entries in various categories. Men can receive the Stan Smith Trophy for the best chocolate pie.

The judges can also award cups, salvers and trophies for the best flower arrangements, vegetables and many more categories. Rosettes will be awarded for outstanding exhibits in all sections.

This year’s event also features a raffle.

Village fête

Jennifer Bowskill, Chairwoman of the Nunney & District Flower Show 2019, said: “If you would like to raise money for Nunney First School, Nunney Pre-school, the Mucky Pups Gardening Club or a local voluntary group or charity, fête stalls will be free on a first-come-first-served basis for anyone happy to organise one of the traditional village games. Stalls offering locally hand-crafted items will also be showing their wares (contact me for details).”

“Once again, we are asking all locals to round-up their tug-of-war teams for a friendly game or two on the day. We will also have the popular pop-up café offering light refreshments and cream teas, together with a BBQ, bar and ice creams. We are working on having a ‘display ring’ too and if all goes well, details will soon be on our Facebook page!”

Proceeds made by the Flower Show itself will be used to fund the Flower Show next year and to fund other Flower Show events.

Proceeds made by stallholders on the free tables at the Village Fête will remain with the voluntary local organisations that are running those stalls to be used for their various community projects.

Admission to the village fête is free.
