The Nunney & District Flower Show is holding its AGM in Nunney village hall on Tuesday 17 November at 7.30pm.
The Flower Show Committee organises Nunney Open Gardens Day at the end of June as well as the annual Flower Show at Nunney Village Hall at the beginning of September.
Open Gardens Day sees 20-30 private gardens open to the public, who must purchase a map of all participating gardens in the Market Place in Nunney. Members of the Nunney & District Flower Show Committee sell plants in the Market Place as well.
Nunney has many hidden gems, some of which are open as part of the National Gardens Scheme’s Yellow Book. Most, however, remain hidden for most of the year to all but a select few. On Nunney Open Gardens Day visitors have a rare opportunity to admire stunning gardens and discuss gardening challenges and opportunities with the gardens’ owners.
The annual Nunney & District Flower Show in Nunney Village Hall is a competition with many categories for both local residents and outsiders. Ranging from fruit and vegetables to photography and knitting, from baking to community efforts, the Flower Show has categories and cups to suit everyone’s talents.
The history of the Nunney & District Flower Show goes back to the 1890s.
The Nunney & District Flower Show also organises other gardening related activities throughout the year, such as excursions to gardens throughout the South West of England, talks on gardening issues and Question & Answer sessions.
