The show takes place on Saturday 3 September at Nunney First School, with entries on view from 2.15pm and trophies presented at 4.15pm. Admission is free.

The show will be opened this year by Mrs Angela Yeoman. The Flower Show takes place in and around Nunney First School in order to celebrate the school’s 120th anniversary in the current building.

The Nunney & District Flower Show Committee hopes that participants from both inside and outside Nunney will take part.

There are no fewer than 154 different categories this year, ranging from vegetables and pot plants to handicraft and bakery. Children under the age of 16 can submit entries in 28 categories, including a potato animal (3 years and under), decorated cup cakes, poems, drawings and computer-generated posters.

There are many trophies available for the best entries in various categories. Men can receive the Stan Smith Trophy for the best plate of four rock cakes. The judges can also award cups, salvers and trophies for the best flower arrangements, vegetables and many more categories. Rosettes will be awarded for outstanding exhibits in all sections.

A Busy Morning

At 3.45pm the Nunney Players and children from the school will perform A Busy Morning, a recreation of classroom life in the year 1916.

The Garden Challenge

The garden challenge is back by popular demand. Two families will compete to design and build a garden in one and a half hours. They will each start at 2.30pm with a blank ‘canvas’ and be provided with a selection of plants from which to choose.

At the halfway point at 3.15pm they will be presented with a mystery ‘joker’ item that must be incorporated in their garden.

Come and watch the gardens taking shape throughout the afternoon. You will see designs and colour schemes emerging and be delighted with the creative talents displayed by the competitors.

At 4pm the Challenge will end, the competitors efforts will be judged and the result announced at 4.45pm, followed by the sale of plants used in the competition.
