Can you help?

We need your help to tell the story of the men and women from Nunney who served during the First World War.

Private Percy William Hillier - help

Private Percy William Hillier

This is 37241 Private Percy William Hillier of 2/5th Somerset Light Infantry. He fought for your freedom in the First World War and was village baker in Nunney for many years after.

You have probably been in what used to be his shop and may even have sat next to his former bread oven; it’s in the lounge area of The George at Nunney.

Visit Nunney is working with Steve Thomas, Friends of Nunney Church, Somerset County Council and others to tell the story of the men and women from Nunney who served in the war of 1914-18 and the village they left behind in an exhibition in church this October.

If you have any information, photos or anecdotes about Nunney during the First World War, please contact Jeremy Gaunt on 836 949. Thank you.
