There will be lots to interest everyone, including stalls selling produce and gifts, tombola, face painting and much more.

A ‘Special Visitor’ is also expected to arrive during the event. All profits will be going towards the wooden castle play frame that is already under construction.

Tree

December is a month packed with events for the children and staff to enjoy. A big Christmas Tree, donated by Nunney Commnunity Association (NCA), will be decorated with lights that Visit Nunney recently won after presenting a Nunney showcase to judges in Colchester.

Colourful hanging ornaments will be made by the children from unused CDs. The tree will stand at the front of the school to be seen by school pupils, village residents and visitors to Nunney as they pass the school.

Carol singing

Nunney First School

It’s 120 years since Nunney First School moved into its current, purpose-built building.

On Saturday 10 December the final event in the 120th anniversary programme takes place: carol singing and a nativity tableau enacted by the children. This will take place between 6pm and 7pm and everyone is welcome.

Wrap up warm, follow the lights from the big Christmas tree to join in the singing and watch the Christmas story unfold.

Performance

Monday 12 December will see two performances of a special production written by Debbie Pattenden to celebrate the school’s 120 years in its current building.

The first performance will be at 1.30pm and the second at 6pm. Every is welcome to see this very special production, which will last about an hour.

Although priority will go to parents, grandparents and carers who want to support their children, the school encourages as many locals as possible to come in and cheer the children on.

Term ends on 16 December. The Spring Term begins with an inset day on 3 January and children returning on 4 January.

Do you have a child who is due to start school in September 2017 (born between 1 September 2012 and 31 August 2013) or do you have a child who is currently in Year 4 and due to transfer to a middle school in September 2016 (born between 1 September 2007 and 1 August 2008)?

If so, you need to apply for a school place before the closing date of 15 January 2017. For further information you can view the Starting School booklet and apply on line at www.somerset.gov.uk/admissions.

Somerset’s Admissions Team is greatly supported by and prefers online applications. However, you do have the right to request a paper application form from Somerset Direct and can do this by phoning 0300 123 2224.

Please be aware, even if you currently have a sibling at this school, or a sibling at a middle school, you MUST still make an application. Failure to do so may result in your child not getting a place at your preferred school.

New email address

Nunney First School recently produced a new poster to promote its progress since it became part of an academy group. A new website is expected to go up in January.

The school also has a new email address [email protected] to communicate with admin assistant Laura Furlong.
