The Chairman’s Community Awards are organised by Somerset County Council. They highlight the work of the county’s unsung local heroes.

Nunney residents who have previously been awarded with the Chairman’s Award include Fred and Nora LeStrange and Catharine Goldsmith.

Max and Sue ran Nunney Post Office for many years before their retirement. Both are stalwarts of Nunney community life, through Nunney Community Association and the Nunney Voluntary Car Scheme and other activities.

The award will be presented at a ceremony in Taunton later this year.
