Aggregate Industries has submitted a planning application that could result in the re-opening of Bartlett’s Quarry, just off Horn Street.
A planning application (Reference SCC 2016/0025/CNT) was made to Somerset County Council by Aggregate Industries. Nunney Parish Council approved the application in its December meeting.
Village residents have expressed concerns over the possible impact on property and village life, with dust, noise and traffic potentially affecting Nunney.
The proposed quarry is just north of Horn Street. Bartlett’s Quarry is one of four quarries of the Coleman Quarry Complex.
Some Nunney residents received a notice from Somerset County Council in November 2019, informing them of the application to extend the deadline by which Bartlett’s Quarry can be opened and the date by which a scheme for its after-use is required.
Full details of the planning application are available on Somerset County Council’s planning application website.
