Flood warning for Nunney Brook withdrawn

UPDATED: The Environment Agency says that the Flood Warning for the Nunney Brook is no longer in force.

Flood warningFlooding was expected for the Nunney Brook including Wanstrow, Holwell, Nunney and Egford and the Sharpshaw Watercourse this morning.

However, the warning was withdrawn at 9am on Sunday.

Between 10 mm and 25 mm of rain has fallen in the catchment over the past 24 hours. The forecast for Sunday 5 January is for prolonged rainfall from late morning onwards.

Catchments are saturated and the forecast into early next week is for the unsettled conditions to continue.

photo004River levels on the Nunney Brook at Holwell and River Mells at Vallis have peaked and are starting to fall.

Frome Road / Nunney Road past Frome Golf Course and Berry Hill / Ridgeway Lane are virtually impassable due to standing water. Drivers are advised to avoid these routes and use access via Nunney Catch instead.

Flood Warnings and Alerts may still be in force for surrounding areas. Flood water may still be around for several days and could be contaminated.
