Frome Half Marathon

The second Frome Half Marathon will once again go through the centre of Nunney, leading to some road closures on Sunday 21 July.

Frome Half Marathon 2013This is the second year for the Frome Half Marathon and 10 K Run. Following the success of the inaugural run last year this year’s event will include an additional 5K Fun Run event that will enable all runners – regardless of experience – to participate in the day.

The 2012 Frome Half Marathon and 10k race was one of the biggest participation events in Frome’s sporting calendar, with Frome Town centre landmarks and roads lined with enthusiastic spectators to support all the runners. In Nunney, Church Street and Castle Hill too saw many local residents and visitors cheering the runners on. Dozens of others volunteered to help out as stewards, handing out water to the runners and helping line the route.

The route through Nunney for Frome Half Marathon means that roads in and around Nunney will be closed before and during the event. The map shows the route, which includes Frome Road, Church Street, the Market Place, Castle Green, and Castle Hill.

The 10K race will split from the half marathon route at the point where the half Marathon extends to the countryside at Nunney, and will wind its way back through the Town centre back to the Frome Town Football Ground.

The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Frome and The Frome Running Club. It is also supported by a host of volunteers. Runners are encouraged to seek sponsorship in aid of two designated charities. Full details are available on the event website.
