Great Expectations

Somerset Moviola and the Nunney Village Hall Committee present Great Expectations, the 2012 film version of the classic Dickens tale.

Great ExpectationsMike Newell’s stylish retelling of the story of fate and fortune stars Helena Bonham Carter as Miss Havisham plus Ralph Fiennes, Robbie Coltrane and Jeremy Irvine.

When orphaned schoolboy Pip (Toby Irvine) helps save the life of a convict in a lonely graveyard, little does he know how one kind act will change his life. When he reaches maturity, he is offered the opportunity to make his fortune in London. All too soon, he becomes selfish and spurns his family in favour of his fashionable friends.

A shattering revelation brings him back to earth, however, and forces him to come to terms with who he is – and what truly matters in life.

A fish and chips supper is served before the showing. The film nights are very popular, so if you wish to join in with the fish and chips supper – and as numbers for the supper are limited – please buy your tickets early from the SPAR village shop in Nunney. Fish and chips tickets are £6.00 each, with film tickets to be purchased separately. The supper is at 6.15pm and the film will start at 7.30pm.
