John Dean died in November after an incredibly valiant battle with cancer. As well as Nunney Street Market and Fayre and the Nunney International Horse Trials he co-ordinated road closures and traffic for countless markets, carnivals and other events in the region for years – after after he became very ill.

Chris Chivers says, “After his passing I decided to approach Sandra, her daughters Mel & Abbie, as well as the rest of their family to offer to run the Bath Half Marathon to raise money for Macmillan Cancer support, and it was an offer that was most welcomed by them all.”

“Through my many visits to the hospital and later the hospice with his granddaughter Bexs, I saw first hand the support offered by these charities. I can honestly say it really does make an awfully painful and traumatic period that little bit easier for both the patient and their families and friends.”
