Ken Lloyd and NCA up for awards

Ken Lloyd, Chairman of the Nunney Church Raise the Roof Appeal, has won Fundraiser of the Year in the Believe in Somerset Awards.

Nunney Fayre

Nunney Community Association organises events throughout the year, including Nunney Street Market and Fayre.

The awards help celebrate talented individuals, businesses and community groups who go the extra mile to promote Somerset.

Last year Visit Nunney CIC won a Believe in Somerset Award in the category Leisure / Tourism. This year we nominated two Nunney candidates without whom our village would be a lot worse off.

Ken Lloyd is now shortlisted for Fundraiser of the Year. He spent 10 years to raise the hundreds of thousands of pounds needed to give Nunney Church a fitting new ceiling.

He wrote countless letters to potential donors, organised events and exhibitions and dealt with the incredible amount of paperwork required to get permission for the work in the Grade I listed building.

In May this year, Nunney’s oldest monument was rededicated by the Bishop of Bath and Wells. The church looks splendid again and is flooded with natural light.

Nunney Community Association has been shortlisted for Community Group of the Year. For decades the NCA has tirelessly organised events in Nunney, raising funds for the playground and other community projects.

From the Easter Sunday Bonnet Parade and Duck Race to Carols in the Castle, the NCA’s volunteers work hard throughout the year to organise fun events for everyone in the village.

Nunney Street Market & Fayre has grown to be the main fundraising event of the year for many groups in Nunney, with over 150 stalls and live music attracting up to 10,000 visitors from across the southwest.
