The Nunney & District Flower Show 2018 Committee hopes that participants from both inside and outside Nunney will take part.

There are no fewer than 139 different categories this year, including many new categories. These range from vegetables and pot plants to handicraft and bakery.

Children under the age of 16 can submit entries in 4 categories for each of 5 age groups, including finger painting (3 years and under), plants, drawings and muffins.

There are many trophies available for the best entries in various categories. Men can receive the Stan Smith Trophy for the best lemon merengue pie.

The judges can also award cups, salvers and trophies for the best flower arrangements, vegetables and many more categories. Rosettes will be awarded for outstanding exhibits in all sections.

Visit Nunney sponsors the Visit Nunney Cup, which is this year awarded to a picture of a Nunney view in any medium.

This year’s event also features a raffle.

Village fête

Jennifer Bowskill, Chairwoman of the Nunney & District Flower Show 2018 said: “This year’s event will include a village fête. We have joined forces with the Nunney Community Association and other voluntary groups in our village, together with the church, school, and pre-school, in order to bring back a traditional village fête for everyone to enjoy.”

The day will kick off during the morning with a family treasure trail around Nunney, ending up at the village hall in time for the start of the fête at 12.30pm.

There will be a pop-up café serving lunches and cream teas plus a hog roast, ice cream van, and bar.

“We will be asking villagers to get together tug-o-war teams for all ages,” Jennifer added. “There will also be a variety of games and stalls by locals on offer plus much, much more.”

Admission to the village fête is free.
