Nunney Horse Trials 2019 – or Nunney International Horse Trials to give the event its full name – is an exciting, high quality sporting event that attract big names.

For three days, Southfield House becomes a hive of activity and as well as sporting action there’s the chance to browse an eclectic range of trade stands and food outlets, all positioned around the main arena where showjumping takes place throughout the three days of the competition.

Selling everything from saddles to furniture, they will keep even the most seasoned shoppers busy, with benches around the perimeter of the arena enabling you to take a seat and watch the showjumping every now and again.

The event attracts some of the top names from the sport of eventing international stars with Zara Phillips, Harry Meade, Sam Griffiths, Kristina Cook and Izzy Taylor all competing there in the past.

The organisers said, “We are delighted that Nunney will keep its international status and will now stage both a CCI2* (short) and 3* (short) in 2020.”

“This is a hugely exciting time for Nunney with substantial investment in a new water complex to accompany a change to the layout for 2019. We also invested in new dressage arenas for the international classes.”

“We’d like to thank everyone who voice their support when we were initially stripped of our international status and we look forward to welcoming you on June 14 – 16.”

With Nunney Castle and a refreshing pint of beer or cider at The George Inn in Nunney just a short stroll away along the course, Nunney is well worth the detour.

The moated castle is clearly visible across the course. It was built around 1373 by Sir John de la Mere and is ranked as one of the most interesting small castles in the UK. Entry is free and it’s open all day.
