Frome Jazz Club

Keith Harrison-Broninski of the former Nunney Jazz Café now organises jazz nights at the Old Bath Arms in Frome.

Jazz has been a feature of Frome life for many years, and the town has more than its fair share of resident international star performers, notably Pee Wee Ellis, Iain Ballamy and John Law – but since the legendary Nunney Jazz Café closed in 2006, there has been no nearby jazz venue featuring top players on a regular basis.

That’s not good enough for a town declared the “sixth coolest place to live in the UK” by The Times, so Keith Harrison-Broninski of Nunney Jazz Café and Richard Findlay of the Old Bath Arms have teamed up to bring jazz fans a free treat on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month, from 8pm to late.

Keith Harrison-Broninski says, “This Wednesday, 28 May, Frome Jazz Club features the hard bop trumpeter Andy Hague, a key figure in the South West jazz scene. Andy’s scintillating playing and imaginative composing has led to many Arts Council funded tours and BBC Radio 3 appearances for his bands of all sizes, and he runs the Be-Bop Club which has been at the heart of Bristol jazz for many years. We look forward to an evening of dazzling playing and great tunes.”

Richard Findlay of the Old Bath Arms says, “We are extremely excited about the jazz club! Music has always been important to the Old Bath Arms, and we are keen to take our commitment to the next level by featuring top jazz musicians twice a month with no entry fee.”

“Guests have the option to enjoy a range of food including stone baked pizzas, tapas, paella, and Black Rock steaks, but are very welcome just to come for a drink and join us in enjoying this terrific music.”

Frome Jazz Club is on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month, 8pm to late, downstairs at:
