Nunney Castle, Somerset

Nunney Street Market and Fayre has raised over £40,000 for local charities and community groups since 2010. The majority of this money benefits projects like the children’s playground, village hall, Nunney Players, local heritage and community groups.

This year’s fayre is organised by Mo and Roger Bell on behalf of the Nunney Community Association. Former Nunney Fayre secretary Jeremy Gaunt provided assistance. The event is promoted by Visit Nunney CIC.

Roger Bell said, “Nunney Street Market & Fayre is the biggest fundraiser for our community, so we are working hard to make this year’s another huge success – a great day out for the whole family.”

“We are delighted to welcome lots of new stallholders as well as popular one who have attended for decades. Scales and Tails’ animal handling experience and education with snakes and lizards was a huge hit again last year – particularly with children – and I’m glad to say they’re back.”

Programmes are available at all car parks and from the organisers’ stall in the Market Place. Or you can download it here:

Nunney is located 3 miles southwest of Frome on the border of Somerset and Wiltshire (A361/Nunney Catch roundabout). If you are using sat nav, the postcode is BA11 4LW.

Roads through the centre of Nunney are closed from 8am to 6pm. Driving through the fair during the event puts lives and our licence to organise events at risk.

There are three large car parks clearly signposted for visitors on the day of Nunney Fayre. Parking costs £5 per vehicle, regardless of the number of passengers. Admission to Nunney Fayre itself is free.

The organisers are reguarly asked why there is a charge for parking. The answer is simple: there is no charge to visit the fayre. The money from parking is the only income for Nunney Community Association – a registered charity – and is vital to pay for everything from insurance, event licences, the bands, sound system, street entertainment and everything else that makes Nunney Fayre such a fantastic day out.

If you park outside the designated car parks, your vehicle may be removed without warning if it blocks access for emergency services at any time.

Parking for drivers with a disability blue badge is available at Nunney village hall. This is organised by the Nunney Village Hall Committee and not by Nunney Community Association.

Arts and crafts

slide-8Arts and crafts stalls are always popular at Nunney Street Market and Fayre. Nunney village hall is dedicated to it entirely during the event, providing protection whatever the weather to often fragile items on sale or display.

Please note that this particular venue is organised and hosted by Nunney village hall itself and not by the Nunney Fayre Committee.

Live music

Nunney Street Market & Fayre includes live performances throughout the day from a variety of bands to suit everyone’s taste. The main stage is located in front of Nunney Castle, with the audience seated around the other side of the moat.

Experienced sound technicians are at hand to control the sound installation, make changes required for each performer and ensure that visitors to the Nunney Street Market & Fayre can hear the music properly.

We welcome buskers, street theatre and living history groups and other performers to enliven Nunney Fayre day with performances throughout the street market area. Please contact us for details.

Artists performing at Nunney Fayre are handpicked by the organisers of the fair. They look for quality, popular appeal and a range of musical styles for the programme.

Nunney Street Market & Fayre would not be possible without the support of a large number of sponsors – both named and anonymous. Sponsoring opportunities range from donations to paying for specific things, such as street entertainment or a band.

Sponsors are invited to reception at The George at Nunney at the start of the fayre, sponsored by Visit Nunney. If you’re interested in sponsoring the 2017 Nunney Street Market & Fayre, please contact or phone 01373 836 949.
