How hard is Nunney water?

Although Wessex Water provides sewerage service in Nunney, Bristol Water is responsible for the Nunney water supply.

Bristol WaterBristol Water’s supply area is divided into 27 separate areas called Water Supply Zones. Water in the each zone comes from the same source or sources.

Samples are collected daily from treatment works and customer properties in each zone. The results of tests completed on these samples are used to demonstrate the quality of the water supplied.

The number of samples Bristol Water collects from treatment works and from zones is specified in the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2000. The results of these samples are provided to the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) who audit to ensure compliance with the regulations.

What is the quality of Nunney water?

Water supplied in Nunney comes from groundwater (borehole) sources and drinking water is classed as ‘very hard’.

A typical sample has a total hardness of 339 mg/l CaCO3 (very hard) and a pH value of 7.2 (6.5 to 9.5 is the standard).

Bristol Water does not add – and currently has no plans to add – fluoride to the water it supplies. The water supplied does contain a small amount of fluoride that occurs naturally in the source waters used.

How hard is water in Nunney?
