Queen attends Nunney tea party

A surprise visitor turned up at Sunday’s well-attended royal tea party in Old Quarry Gardens.

13419160_10154241934787363_202226577400465213_nOrganised jointly by Nunney Community Association and the Nunney Village Hall Committee, the party celebrated HM The Queen’s 90th birthday.

Long tables had been set up in the Old Quarry Gardens car park, with a long row of gazebos provided in case of downpours.

It stayed dry and even sunny, however, with villagers sipping bubbly and eating the marvelous birthday cake, created for the occasion by local caterer Ruth Brooks.

The royal visitor was announced and the gates of the car park flung open to let the chauffeur-driven royal blue vehicle in.

After a round of royal waves through the car window, Her Majesty made her way to the bar area to cut the cake with a huge sword – clinging on to her tiara for dear life – before departing again.

What a shame that Mrs Pat Snell was unable to make it to the party though…
