Royal United Hospital, Bath – Accident & Emergency (A&E)

The nearest Accident & Emergency (A&E) department to Nunney is based at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

Royal United HospitalThe RUH has a busy A&E department that provides emergency care to a large catchment population of around 500,000 people in Bath, and the surrounding towns and villages in North East Somerset and Western Wiltshire. The department was rebuilt in 2003 and to reflect the demands of high patient volume and level of care required, takes its model from that of many American trauma centres.

As a first port of call for medical advice the RUH advises patients consult their own General Practitioner – they will be able to arrange appointments or direct you to the appropriate place for treatment. Out of hours the GP surgery should have an answer phone directing patients to the out of hours GP service covering your area, who again can provide advice, review or redirection as appropriate.

A&E RUHThere are no onsite dental services at the RUH; please contact your own dentist for advice regarding services. Your dentist’s answer phone should direct you to the appropriate out of hours cover.

All patients, regardless of whether registered with a GP or not, can obtain 24-hour medical advice by contacting NHS direct on 0845 46 47 or at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk. This website has a search facility enabling patients to search by postcode for the nearest GP, dentist, pharmacy or Emergency Department.
