The Nunney Treasure Trail is called The Hunt for the Nunney Diamonds. On the eve of the siege of Nunney Castle a vast amount of cash, called ‘diamonds’ after the shape of the coins, was rumoured to be stored in the building to pay the soldiers defending the village. The money was never found and legend has it the Castle owner Col Prater managed to escape through a secret tunnel and hide the treasure somewhere in Nunney! Can you discover where the ‘diamonds’ are hidden?
The Trail is about 1 1/2 miles long and will take between 1 and 1 1/2 hours to complete. Part of the route is across fields and over stiles. There is also an optional walk alongside Nunney Brook. The paths may be muddy from time to time depending on the weather. Unfortunately the Trail is not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs.
