Visit Nunney Christmas lights go up

Two Christmas trees, provided by Nunney Community Association and decorated with the new Visit Nunney Christmas lights, have gone up.

The traditional Christmas tree in the Market Place is a very fine one this year.

A second tree stands in front of Nunney First School, which celebrates its 120th anniversary in the current building this year. The children have decorated it with Christmas ornaments made out of old CDs.

Visit Nunney Christmas lightsVisit Nunney CIC won the new Christmas lights recently after presenting to the judges of the Revive & Thrive Christmas lights competition at a conference in Coventry.

Revive & Thrive is a UK networking organisation for people involved in local regeneration. Visit Nunney is a member.

The Christmas lights were sponsored by Blachere Illuminations UK, who supply lights to many town councils around the country.

The stars on top were added as a separate donation paid for by Visit Nunney. Although Blachere wrongly provide white stars, rather than matching warm yellow ones, many villagers have already said that they really like the contrasting colours.

Blachere has offered to swap the stars in the new year. No decision has been taken yet.
