We’re up for Website of the Year – again!

The prestigious Good Web Guide has shortlisted Visit Nunney for UK Website of the Year for the second consecutive year.

GWG AwardsThe village website, set up and run single-handedly by one volunteer in his spare time, is up for UK Website of the Year – again.

The Good Web Guide has today announced the shortlisted websites for The Good Web Guide Awards 2015. The shortlisted sites were selected out of over 1,500 entries.

The Good Web Guide is the online guide to the best sites on the internet. Each of the sites reviewed is rated according to its unique offering, usability and efficiency.

The Good Web Guide Website of the Year Awards put innovation and online excellence at the top of the agenda. In the category Charity / Social Enterprise our village’s ‘no budget’ website is up against two slick, big-budget websites: cricket legend Imran Khan’s IKCA charity website and Sport Relief.

GWG AwardsLast year The Good Web Guide’s Managing Director, Arabella Dymoke, said: “Visit Nunney shows what you can achieve on a limited budget in providing the community with a useful site. There are websites with limitless resources and access to the best digital brains, but small websites can make waves too. Visit Nunney is a superb example to towns and villages across the UK wanting to improve and grow their presence online.”

The shortlisted websites will be judged by a panel of industry experts. The category winners and overall winners will be announced on Monday 16 November.

Adrie van der Luijt, Editor of VisitNunney.com, has a busy day job advising public and private sector clients such as DWP, Defra, Nationwide, The AA and PwC on creating effective, engaging websites.

His job often takes him away from Nunney for months at a time. Thanks to social media and a network of local informants he nevertheless manages to provide breaking news, events and social media updates without fail.

Adrie said: “It’s clear that we’re the underdog this time. But what an honour to be even considered for an award with our little village website alongside big brand, big budget websites with full-time teams whose design and maintenance is often outsourced to external agencies.”

“Visit Nunney by contrast is real ‘kitchen table’ stuff, the result of countless late night efforts researching and writing articles – and sheer passion and guts. All I can say is: fingers crossed. Let’s hope that the judges ‘get’ what we’re doing here.”
