Waste collection this week

The next household recycling and waste collection will take place in Nunney on Saturday 30 August, not on Friday, due to the August Bank Holiday.

Nunney Waste CollectionGarden waste will also be collected on Saturday 30 August. Garden waste needs to be put out by 7am on the day of collection but not earlier than the night before.
Collection times during the day can vary.

Garden waste should be contained within the wheeled bin or special sacks supplied. Bin lids should be closed when put out for collection. Excess garden waste not contained within the special bins or sacks will not be taken.

Garden waste accepted includes:

  • Flowers, plants and garden weeds;
  • Grass cuttings, leaves and hedge trimmings;
  • Small branches (less than 10cm or 4 inches width);
  • Straw or sawdust (if bedding material, then only from vegetarian pets).

Please do NOT put the following out with your garden waste: plastic bags, flower pots, plant labels, kitchen food waste, stones, rubble, soil, treated wood and large branches or logs.

The Frome Recycling Centre. at Manor Furlong, Manor Road, Frome BA11 4RN, is open 7 days a week from 8am – 4pm, including Sundays. There is no charge for depositing household materials and items, but there are charges for four materials – soil, hardcore, gas bottles and tyres – not classed as household waste.

If you require a new green or black box, internal or external food waste bin, you can order these on the Somerset Waste Partnership website.

If you have items in good condition that you are clearing out, please remember your local charity shop, furniture reuse group or try your local Freecycle group, or an online auction, such as eBay.

These are all excellent ways of giving new life to good items and cutting down on waste at the same time. For details see www.somersetwaste.gov.uk.
