Guest speaker for the ‘Women Inspired’ business networking event will be local entrepreneur and events manager, Allison Herbert. All local business women are welcome as well as those considering a new career starting their own business.

Allison Herbert is a familiar face to local small businesses, she runs her own company Love-Local.com – an online shop showcasing the work of over 100 designers and makers from the South West.

Love Local is more than just an online shop, Allison and her business partner Liz both have a background in business support over the last 15 years and work closely with their members.

“Working with small creative businesses is very inspiring, some of them are right at the start of their journey in business and we are able to offer support and advice as well as getting their products some great exposure – online and through our PR network.”

As well as running her own online business, Allison has been involved in some major successes in Frome. She was a founding director of St Catherine’s Artisan Market, responsible for getting it off the ground in 2009 and supported the Chamber of Commerce in the town last year to create the Discuss and Do Festival for businesses. She is also working with the Salthouse on a regular basis.

The topic of saving money is crucial in these times of economic hardship, and as more and more people are turning to self-employment, there has never been a better time to make the most of what you can do for free or very cheaply.

Having also worked in the charity and non-profit sector, Allison has learnt a few money saving tips along the way which she is pleased to share with local businesses.

“I am hoping that everyone who attends will also have some great ideas to share and we can all benefit from each other to make our businesses leaner and more robust to stand up to whatever 2013 may bring.”

The Women Inspired business programme was set up in 2006 with the aim of the group of providing a supportive environment at regular monthly meetings, workshops or events for Business Women in the South West.

The group meets at 1pm, participants are encouraged to bring along a packed lunch for an informal business networking lunch and delicious home made cakes are provided by local catering business Events Horizon, also a fairly new business and also run by a female entrepreneur, Keren Hayden. The meeting finishes at 3.30pm.

The business networking event costs £12 in advance or £15 on the day.
