Visited with family for Sunday lunch. Friendly staff made us feel welcome and looked after us well in this comfortable pub in an idyllic village. The roasts were first rate (beef lovely and rare, pork with crispy crackling), whitebait starter was best I've ever tasted.

Easy cycle over, stopped for quick pint, bustling busy bar area.Looked really nice place to settle into on cold winters day with log burners. Menu looked good, but didn't stop for food. Would definitely pop back. great looking pub.

Just came home after spending a lovely afternoon at the talbot. The food was amazing, all voted the best we have eaten in a long time. Liked the selection of dishes, some interesting choices. The lamb loin with barley was melt in your mouth and my pudding, chocolate mousse, plums and salt caramel ice cream was divine. Excellent wine list,... More

Had a lovely meal here last night, with good service, spoiled by inclusion of a service charge with the bill. Why do you insist on this archaic practise? We are local to the area and have been here a number of times since the revamp. Didn't notice it last time or did I just double tip?

Loved the beautifully cooked tender steak and unusual steamed quince and stem ginger pudding with nutmeg custard. Service was relaxed but friendly and efficient.

We had a lovely pub lunch at the Talbot in Mells today. The building itself is beautiful and when you walk into the bar, the staff are friendly and helpful, and know the menu and the wine selection well. I had a burger without the bun (I'm a coeliac) and my hubbie had a salt beef sandwich. Both came with... More

The choices for starters were absolutely delicious, the main courses lacked one or two choices particularly for non meat eaters, but I do understand that this was Sunday lunch. The staff were excellent, the restaurant, (we were in the Pub) was delightful and I have to mention the puddings, which were sumptuous.

I generally have low expectations when it comes to dining out at restaurants that aren’t veg-friendly, after yet another underwhelming vegetarian dinning experience I focus on the evening itself – the great company, the cosy surroundings & the pleasant staff. More vegetarian choices please!

Got here early on a Saturday evening; the restaurant was fully bokked, but we ate in the pub room from the same menu. Very tasty burgers, excellent seasonal starters (mushrooms etc.) Very friendly staff, very personable, and knowledgable about the wines - when asking for an acidic white, the chap opened a very nice Saumur blanc. Prices were very fair,... More

Warm welcome, good menu with a range to suit most pockets, attentive service, lovely food and a great range of drinks, shame it was lunchtime!
